Picture Overload
We love this time of year and are always counting down. This year there was a fire blazing right next to us. At night you could see the flames on top of the mountain. I tried to get some good pictures, but it was hard. A week or so after we left the fire came right down the mountain and almost got where we were camped. We were on private ground so they did their best to keep it from burning.
This was what it looked like as we aproached Stanley. Look at all the smoke from the fire. I was worried it would be real smokey where we were camped, but it stayed pretty clear the whole time.
There was this little ditch right next to us, so my dad dammed it up for the kids to play in. They had a blast even though it was freezing water. So glad my kids have cousins to play with.
The beach. We had so much fun just running around and playing in the water.
On our way back to camp we ran into my brother and his semi. Apparently he was trying to make the turn and went into the other lane to turn wide and then a car was coming towards him so he had to turn short. According to him he would have made the turn, but in the middle of the road he was turning onto was this dumb road block sign and a forest service worker who would not move the sign. Needless to say it was a tight corner into the borrow pit. because the highway he turned off of was curving and cars coming along at 65 mph. Thank goodness Josh's Tahoe is pretty tough.
Working on the corrals to make sure they're all ready for shipping.
More beach time at Redfish Lake. Kim and Larry and their family came up so we had to make another beach trip. Riley and Courtney stopped on their way up to our camp. Riley is such a fun uncle and buried all the kids in the sand. They had such a good time.
My boys sure do manage to get filthy dirty while camping so we decided to make a bath tub for them. So we bathed them in this storage tub. They thought it was the coolest thing ever and wanted to do it again.
We sure love this time of year and I'm so glad that my kids get to spend so much time with their grandparents and cousins. I love that they get to work with grandpa and they still think its fun. Matthew would do just about anything if you let him use tools to do it. He also likes to use a poker to poke the sheep with. Luke loves to play with tools too and has asked for some for Christmas. I hope this family tradition continues for along time.
